Mt. Pleasant Garden

This spring, my housemates and I planted our second garden in the two years we've been living in Mt. Pleasant. Its no more than 80 square feet of soil surrounding a small patio. We have a row of cucumbers, three large zucchini plants (more recently, two, since one of them did not survive the drought), five tomato plants, beans, peppers, radishes, carrots, and spinach. There are marigolds, and potted plants as well as our three foot christmas tree in a pot in the garden.

Its a simple project. We grew our plants from seeds in the late winter, turned over the soil, prepared the garden, planted, and watered. For such a little effort, the results have been really satisfying. Early this spring, we had radishes, now there is a fresh zucchini and a few cucumbers to be had almost every day, the tomatos are coming in, as well as the beans, and we are only a few weeks away from having peppers. Not much can beat the farmer's market, but this is definitely as fresh as it gets.
